Rosacea is a skin condition that can cause your face and chest to become red, sometimes accompanied by painful sensations or a feeling of heat.

Although the redness can come and go, it can start to cause small broken capillaries across the cheeks, which don't go away.

There can also be small or pink bumps on the face that may be filled with a yellow fluid, too.

Women are more likely to get rosacea, but symptoms can be worse in male sufferers.

Other symptoms of rosacea can include dry skin, yellow skin patches and sore eyelids. After many years of rosacea, the skin on the nose might become thicker, too.

UNDERSTANDING REDNESS AND ROSACEA, MEDICAL TREATMENTS AND HOW LED PHOTOTHERAPY IN SPALDING CAN HELP REDUCE PSORIASIS AND REDDENING

Rosacea is a long term condition, and while there's no known cause, there can be triggers that make it worse, including spicy food, alcohol, aerobic exercise and getting stressed.

Rosacea needs to be diagnosed by a GP, and can become serious: if you have rosacea and start noticing your eyes becoming painful, sensitive, sore or gritty, or changes to your vision, then it's important to see a GP as soon as possible as this can be a condition called Keratitis, which can be serious if not treated quickly.

Standard NHS treatment is a topical cream or antibiotics for a number of weeks.

If you've struggled with reddening or redness, you may have heard of UV light therapy, but feel concerned about skin cancer.

Happily, the device we use at LED By Light does not emit UV light, so does not carry the same risk.

The Dermalux device we use here at LED By Light is an LED device, so doesn't emit any UV wavelength spectrum light.

LED Phototherapy has been shown to help with reddening - as long as the right wavelengths are used. When it comes to treating your psoriasis, we'll use the Dermalux's Red Light (at a wavelength of 633nm) and Near Infrared (at a wavelength of 830nm).

Results are individual, but for the best results, you'll likely need an initial series of appointments in a short period of time.
